Thermal Spa in Papa

The first wonderful open-air pool of Papa was built by Tamás Esterhazy in 1932. There were beach huts, sun-terraces, a quicksand coast, a sandwich bar and two 50x25 meters concrete pools. The pool could receive 1200 guests, who were amused by music. The water of the pools was supplied by the strained water of Tapolca River until 1962. Then thermal water was explored in the town. From that time on the bath was supplied by this thermal well.

The new thermal-wellness spa and strand of Papa, Várkertfürdő was opened in 2003. In the park of Esterhazy Castle we await our guest with 15 swimming pools, adventure pool, swim-out, sitting pool, pool with slides and numerous wellness and sauna services.

A new development has been realized at Várkertfürdő recently. The summer beach area was expanded by a new children’s pool (Winnie pool) and a 1030 square meters pool. In the near future a 1500 square meters health center will be opened too.

THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE MEDICINAL WATER OF PAPA

The water of Várkertfürdő was declared medicinal water (called medicinal water of Papa) on the 11.10.2007. It contains 4410 mg/l mineral substances and belongs to the best waters of Hungary.
The bath cure in the thermal water is recommended in the following cases: diseases of worn spine and joints, osteoporosis, chronic inflammations, inguinal rheumatism, disc diseases, rehabilitation (after-treatment of injuries, orthopedic surgery), posture disorders, static troubles, lack of moving one directional load, excessively loading aches of the muscles.

	Medical treatments The unit provides rheumatology and physiotherapy locomotive rehabilitation treatments. A wide variety of physiotherapy treatments – ultra sound, diadinamics, stimulus and galvanic, current, interference, underwater current therapies, medical massage, individual group medical gymnastics. After the specialized medical examination we offer various packages to suit your individual needs on a one or two week long therapy basis.
	Wellness treatments The wellness services of the Várkertfürdő take use of the wonderful energy of the use of the seawater have been known and taken use of since ancient times. The marine salt, alga, seaweed, mud, the sponges, corals and the seawater itself are full of vitamins, vegetal hormones that stimulate the regeneration of the human cells regenerate the skin and have anti-inflammation effect.
	Massages Massage belongs to the oldest healing practices. The various types of massages have developed according to the customs of the various cultures and have further developed. Our ancestors used various massages and pressures three million years ago in order to relieve one from pain.
